The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $50 million to two battery manufacturers to support domestic production of battery materials. The projects will establish 2 GWh of electrode manufacturing capacity and 1.5 GWh of battery assembly capacity. The companies will utilize dry-coating additive processes, reducing reliance on traditional graphite. This initiative expands additive manufacturing into critical areas of the energy supply chain.
