AlSi10Mg is the standard aluminum casting alloy for laser powder bed fusion, offering light weight, good thermal conductivity and high productivity on AM systems. As-built parts show 350-450 MPa tensile strength with 3-6% elongation; a T6 heat treatment trades some strength for up to 10% elongation when ductility matters. Its near-eutectic composition gives a narrow freezing range, which keeps the alloy crack-free and easy to print without heated platforms. Applications concentrate on lightweighting: heat exchangers, brackets, housings, drone frames and automotive components. Powder is gas-atomized and typically stocked in 20-63 micron cuts at the lowest price point of any printable metal.
