Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) is the most widely printed titanium alloy, delivering aerospace-grade strength at 45% lower density than steel. LPBF and EBM parts reach 950-1100 MPa tensile strength after stress relief, and HIP treatment raises fatigue life to the level required for flight hardware and orthopedic implants. The alloy prints well but is highly reactive in powder form: spherical powder must be produced by inert-gas atomization, handled under argon, and certified below 0.13% oxygen. Chinese manufacturers now supply AM-grade Ti64 in 15-45 and 15-53 micron cuts at prices far below aerospace premiums, which has made titanium a realistic choice for motorsport, consumer goods and dental applications.
