Lockheed Martin, the world's largest defense contractor, partnered with defense technology company Divergent to produce a 9-foot (2.74-meter) wingspan 'Replicator' drone from concept to first article in under 12 months, integrating design, analysis, manufacturing, and assembly within a unified digital environment using Divergent's Adaptive Production System (DAPS). Traditional methods typically take years. The project builds on Lockheed Martin's $25 million strategic investment in Divergent in 2024, aiming to explore applications in advanced munitions and air vehicles. Divergent previously advanced the 'Venom' autonomous attack demonstrator from concept to flight-ready in 71 days. Lockheed Martin is evaluating expanding the model to munitions components, aviation, and rotorcraft segments.
