Italian startup platform Designtech, industrial additive manufacturing company Caracol, and design technology firm Lamàquina have jointly established Milan's first permanent design center for robotic large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM). Designtech builds the innovation ecosystem, bringing together technology, manufacturing capabilities, creative talent, and industry partners at its CoFactory innovation center. Caracol provides the core Heron AM platform, capable of producing large parts using advanced thermoplastics, sustainable and recycled materials, supported by Eidos manufacturing software and process knowledge. Lamàquina contributes computational design, robotic programming, and materials research expertise, transforming LFAM into a design tool. The center is open to designers, studios, and brands, aiming to bridge the gap between creativity and industrial manufacturing. The long-term vision of the three partners is to promote LFAM culture within Italy's design and manufacturing community, fostering a more flexible, efficient, and sustainable manufacturing paradigm.
