DF3000 'Youlong', the world's first large hybrid tilt-rotor electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) passenger aircraft, successfully completed its maiden flight in hybrid mode. Developed with significant contributions from Tsinghua University's Aero Engine Research Institute, this 3-ton full-scale engineering prototype adopts a hybrid architecture combining distributed electric propulsion with series-range extended generation. It has a takeoff weight of 3 tons, a maximum payload of 600 kg, and can carry 7–8 passengers at a cruise speed of 300 km/h, with a full-load range of 1,000 km. Its core power system integrates multiple technologies from Tsinghua, including flight-propulsion integrated control and energy management algorithms, aiming to overcome both the complex handling of traditional tilt-rotor aircraft and the limited range of pure electric eVTOLs, thereby providing key equipment support for China's low-altitude economy.
