During the 13th Global Aero Engine and Gas Turbine Focus Conference & Exhibition (GTF2026), the "2026 Civil Aero Engine and Gas Turbine Remanufacturing Technology and Application Promotion Meeting" was held in Shanghai under the theme "Recreating Heavy Machinery, Revitalizing Two Engines." The event brought together over 150 representatives from industry, academia, and research, including the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Air Force Engineering University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Dongfang Electric Group. The meeting highlighted that delivery cycles for new gas turbines have stretched to several years, while remanufacturing solutions can be deployed and grid-connected within tens of days. However, China faces technical bottlenecks in autonomously repairing key components from retired equipment—especially turbine blades that operate long-term at 1,600°C. Establishing an independent and controllable remanufacturing system is a strategic imperative for industrial chain security. During the event, Nanjing Horys Photoelectric Technology and Anyang Yuanhang Gas Turbine Technical Services signed a strategic cooperation agreement to bridge the gap from "laboratory" to "repair shop." With the mature application of advanced technologies such as laser additive manufacturing and intelligent inspection, restoring or even surpassing original performance in aging parts is becoming a reality.
