According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on May 18, the value-added output of China's industrial enterprises above a designated size grew 5.6% year-on-year in the first four months of 2026. Among major industrial products, output of 3D printing equipment surged 50.9%, ranking among the fastest. During the same period, lithium-ion battery output rose 36.0% and industrial robot output increased 25.7%. The robust growth in 3D printing equipment output reflects continued demand for smart manufacturing upgrades. Rising adoption of additive manufacturing across downstream applications signals a transition from R&D prototyping to scaled production. This capacity expansion will drive stable demand for upstream materials such as metal powders.
