South Korean company LIG D&A has announced the launch of a metal 3D printing mass production center. The facility fully integrates metal 3D printing technology into defense sectors such as surveillance, reconnaissance, and guided weapons. Through topology optimization and generative design, weapon system components achieve weight reduction and performance enhancement. Combined with AI-driven design and process control, the initiative aims to build an independent and controllable defense supply chain. As the only South Korean company using metal 3D printing for mass production of defense products, this marks a substantial application of additive manufacturing in the defense industry.
