CCTV's Xinwen Lianbo reported that China's 3D printing (additive manufacturing) industry is entering a new phase of rapid development. From January to April 2026, domestic 3D printer production surged 50.9% year-on-year, with exports reaching 2.46 million units, up 100.3%. Chinese companies now hold approximately 90% of the global consumer-grade 3D printer market. The report attributes growth to technological advances, cost reduction, and efficiency gains, transitioning 3D printing from prototyping to mass production. Applications are expanding from high-end fields like aerospace and healthcare into consumer goods (e.g., watch cases, shoe components) and industrial complex structures (e.g., radiators, heat exchangers). Industry experts believe that with the improvement of standards, 3D printing is shifting from an 'optional' to a 'mandatory' part of manufacturing, with billion-dollar application scenarios emerging and the industry scale gradually approaching the hundred-billion level.
