Asia Advanced Materials has developed high-homogeneity CuCr25 to CuCr50 spherical powders using high-temperature, high-vacuum inert gas atomization (with an ultra-high cooling rate of 10⁵–10⁷ K/s). The Cr phase is refined to within 5 μm, ensuring uniform composition without segregation, and the powders exhibit excellent sphericity. These materials are compatible with SLM, EBM, and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) processes for producing CuCr electrical contacts, resistance welding electrodes, and high-strength conductive connectors. The CuCr30 and CuCr50 powders show absorptivity of 38.40% and 50.70% at 1064 nm (infrared), and 69.95% and 77.29% at 532 nm (green light), making them easy to process with both wavelengths. Compared to traditional casting or mixed-powder sintering methods, the gas-atomized powders fundamentally overcome issues such as Cr-phase segregation and low density, expanding the application range of CuCr25-50 series products from casting/powder metallurgy to additive manufacturing.
