Swedish metal additive manufacturer Northern Waves plans to invest €1.5 million in a metal additive manufacturing production facility in Gijón, northern Spain, focusing on satellite antennas and RF components. The plant will start operations this summer with an initial annual capacity of 5,000 antennas, expected to increase to 12,000–15,000 within 24 months. The company will deploy four new metal 3D printers (bringing the total to five, including one existing unit), with an additional four printers to be added in the following year. Products cover satellite antenna systems, 5G/6G communications, high-power radar, automotive systems, and more. The project is seen as part of a strategy for talent repatriation and regional high-tech industrial development.
