HP's Global Head of Additive Manufacturing Products and Strategy stated in an interview that after years of discussing potential, the industry must now prove that 3D printing can reliably achieve industrial-scale production. HP aims to position additive manufacturing alongside traditional processes like injection molding as a production option that designers actively consider when creating products. Over the past few years, HP has reduced the total cost of ownership (TCO) by approximately 50%, and the new generation of PA 11 material cut part costs by 40%. HP is transitioning from a hardware company to an additive manufacturing solutions provider, launching an industrial filament platform, and emphasizing repeatability, performance, and cost as the three key factors for scaling applications.
