U.S. metal additive manufacturing company Velo3D and gas turbine developer Aurelia Technologies have announced a strategic partnership to explore the application of additive manufacturing in next-generation gas turbine systems. Aurelia specializes in developing high-efficiency, fuel-flexible small gas turbines for industrial power generation, municipal utilities, and data center applications. The collaboration will leverage 3D printing to consolidate traditional multi-part assemblies into fewer integrated components, reducing part count and simplifying design structures in high-temperature, high-stress environments, while also shortening lead times and enhancing supply chain resilience. The partnership will utilize Velo3D's Sapphire series printers, along with its expertise in process parameters and material behavior, to validate the printability of specific turbine components and high-performance alloys.
