U.S. additive manufacturing jet engine producer Beehive Industries, following its largest single order of EOS Onyx metal AM systems, has purchased two NXG 600E metal additive manufacturing systems from Nikon SLM Solutions. The NXG 600E is the company's largest model, featuring a build volume of 600 × 600 × 1,500 mm and equipped with twelve 1 kW lasers, designed for high-throughput mass production of large metal parts. Beehive will dedicate the two systems to Constellium Aheadd CP1 aluminum alloy and Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy, respectively, for manufacturing large 3D-printed components such as vehicle bodies and large satellite substructures. Beehive's Chief Operating and Financial Officer stated that this move represents a doubling down on the company's historic expertise in large-scale additive manufacturing, providing a faster pathway to domestic series production of mission-critical components for aerospace and defense customers.
