Swedish 3D printing company Freemelt has secured an order from U.S.-based Intalus to deliver two eMELT systems for additive manufacturing technology and application development. The order is valued at approximately SEK 12 million, with the first system scheduled for delivery by the end of Q3 2026. The agreement also includes options for at least two additional units. Intalus plans to initially use titanium-based materials for medical technology applications, with future plans to test refractory metals such as tungsten. Freemelt's open-architecture electron beam powder bed fusion platform operates in a vacuum environment and supports high preheating temperatures, enabling effective control of stress and crack formation when processing refractory metals. According to Freemelt's CEO, this order represents the company's first industrial deployment in the U.S. and marks a significant breakthrough in the American market.
