AVIMET (under Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric, dual main businesses of metal 3D printing equipment and powders) obtained a construction land planning permit on September 18 for its Changde 'Metal Additive Manufacturing Powder Materials Industrialization Project' (project code 2602-430700-04-01-786464; enterprise investment filing was completed earlier on April 8). This permit covers: land area of 33,609.27 m², total gross floor area of 19,908 m², with main structures including the main plant, production plant, and finished goods warehouse, plus an argon station and analytical laboratory, and planning for 8 production lines of various types. The argon station configuration points to inert gas atomization powder production processes. Project background: a signing with the Changde Economic and Technological Development Zone on October 28, 2025, focused on titanium alloy/aluminum alloy aerospace lightweight alloy powders; after completion, it will add 2,000 tons of metal 3D printing powder capacity. In November 2025, AVIMET completed a Series C funding round (led by Xiangtou Fund, with Changde Derun Industry and Hunan Caixin Capital participating), with proceeds to be used for the Changde base. Originally planned to start construction in Q1 2026, and to be presented at a Hunan provincial major project roadshow in June. Value for powder buyers: (1) once the 2,000-ton-class capacity is operational, it will significantly increase supply of titanium alloy/high-temperature alloy/stainless steel powders in central China, shortening lead times for customers in central and southern China; (2) expansion by an equipment-plus-materials integrated manufacturer may lead to 'equipment-bundled powder' procurement schemes, affecting the bargaining structure for powder procurement; (3) monitor the construction start and production timelines, as well as planned alloy grades.
