Commercial space company Rocketera announced on September 16 the completion of its Series B++ funding round, co-led by IDG Capital, Chaos Investment, Hangzhou Capital, and Songyuan Venture Capital, with participation from Heda Investment, Yida Capital, and others. The company has raised over 2.3 billion yuan in its Series B (B/B+/B++) within just the past six months, earning it unicorn status. The funds will be allocated to support the Yuanxingzhe-1 maiden flight mission, reusability verification, and commercial delivery capability development. Yuanxingzhe-1 features a "fully stainless steel rocket body + liquid oxygen methane + landing leg-free capture recovery" design. The Y1 and Y2 rockets are fully assembled, and more than 30 critical pre-flight ground tests have been completed. The rocket is expected to be ready for its maiden flight by the end of 2026, with commercial launch services commencing within 2027. Founded in March 2022 in Beijing's Daxing District, the company completed China's first stainless steel rocket sea-based flight recovery test in May 2025. In January this year, construction began in Hangzhou's Qiantang District on a 5.2 billion yuan medium-to-large liquid launch vehicle assembly, testing, and reusable recovery base, with a planned annual production capacity of 25 rockets. As capital continues to flow into commercial space, the mass production of reusable rockets will directly amplify demand for additive manufacturing in engines—core components such as thrust chambers and injectors are shifting from forging to SLM printing, and the procurement cycle for high-temperature alloy, titanium alloy, and copper alloy powders is expected to shorten as capital accelerates.
