Published online in Virtual and Physical Prototyping on October 20: The team led by Jiang Jianzhong at Fuyao University of Science and Technology (in collaboration with USTB and NUS) achieved crack-free laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) processing of the Al85Cu5Li4Mg3Zn3 lightweight Al-based entropy alloy, reaching near-full density (≈99.99%). The alloy exhibits a room-temperature compressive strength exceeding 1000 MPa and maintains over 800 MPa at 200°C. The study also reveals stress-assisted phase transformation behavior during high-temperature compressive creep, providing new design insights for lighter, more heat-resistant aluminum alloy powders.
