Inner Mongolia Beryllium Gold New Materials Co., Ltd., based in Ejin Horo Banner, has achieved a core technological breakthrough in high-purity beryllium preparation, marking a leap from original technology breakthrough to large-scale mass production. Leveraging the aerospace and nuclear research team of the National Engineering Laboratory for Hydrometallurgy at the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the company has applied sub-molten salt green hydrometallurgy technology — which won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award — to develop core high-purity beryllium raw materials with purity exceeding 4N. Its core processes and products are fully self-controlled, filling a domestic gap in the high-purity beryllium industry. At the process level, the company has built an integrated, full-process green system: 'specialty resin ion-exchange impurity removal — low-temperature fluorination circulating closed calcination — high-inert-atmosphere closed smelting — multi-stage atmosphere refining — atomization powder production and hot-press ingot formation.' Mass-produced high-purity beryllium powder maintains a purity of over 99.95%, with key impurities such as carbon, oxygen, iron and aluminum precisely reduced, delivering low-carbon and low-oxygen performance. The 2,000-square-meter Phase I pilot base completed commissioning in December 2024 and has produced high-quality beryllium ingots. Phase II is designed with six times the capacity of Phase I; power supply expansion and dual-circuit redundancy are already in place, and the release of capacity will directly enhance the region's ability to supply high-end new materials. For the metal additive manufacturing supply chain, self-sufficiency in the atomization powder production stage means that high-purity beryllium powder — a key raw material for special aerospace structural components, nuclear industry breeder materials and reactor shielding layers — now has a stable and controllable domestic source. Inner Mongolia Platinum Blue New Materials Co., Ltd. has simultaneously moved into the pilot conversion base, focusing on the intelligent manufacturing of high-precision high-purity beryllium windows and already possessing customized sample preparation capability. The industrial chain is extending from raw material preparation to high-end beryllium product processing, initially forming a closed-loop framework from powder to finished products. Value for powder buyers: (1) High-purity beryllium powder with stable purity above 99.95% and low carbon and oxygen content can be included in the domestic candidate list for high-end structural component powders; (2) Phase II capacity is six times that of Phase I, so sample verification and small-batch supply windows should be secured in advance of the capacity expansion milestone; (3) Pay attention to Platinum Blue New Materials' customized sample delivery capability and simultaneously advance process parameter alignment for products such as beryllium windows.
