On October 17, at the commercial space session of Zhejiang Province's "2026 Tianxia Yongshang Homecoming" event, Huosheng Aerospace's 200-ton-class liquid oxygen methane engine project was officially signed and will be located in the Ningbo Marine Economic Development Demonstration Zone. The project will build an engine final assembly and integration production line and supporting facilities, advancing the full-flow staged combustion engine from R&D to large-scale production and connecting engine assembly and testing, rocket manufacturing, and launch services. The core product, "Huosheng-1," is a 200-ton-class full-flow staged combustion liquid oxygen methane engine. Its first production model has a sea-level thrust of 140 tons, a specific impulse of 315 seconds, a combustion chamber pressure of 20 MPa, and a single-engine structural mass of only 1.5 tons. Full-flow staged combustion is the most technically demanding liquid rocket engine cycle in the world. Previously, only SpaceX's Raptor had achieved orbital flight, and its complex internal flow channels rely on highly modified metal 3D printing. In November 2025, Huosheng Aerospace successfully validated the reliability of the 3D-printed combustion chamber body in the first hot-fire test of a subscale thrust chamber (14 ignitions, 60 seconds total). Founded in Beijing in December 2024, the company completed tests of a subscale oxygen-rich preburner prototype in May 2026 under three conditions: a 5-second short burn, a 10-second steady-state burn, and a 100-second long-duration burn. It plans to complete full-engine assembly and full-system hot-fire testing by the end of 2026, achieve the first flight of the "Qitian-2" rocket in 2028, and reduce launch cost to 10,000 yuan per kilogram. Ningbo currently has 28 aerospace enterprises above designated size, with total output value of 13.364 billion yuan in 2025 (up 18.6% year on year). The project will, for the first time, link engine manufacturing, rocket assembly, the launch site, and satellite applications into a single industrial chain. Value for powder buyers: (1) Large-scale production of full-flow staged combustion engines will create sustained demand for superalloy and titanium alloy spherical powders, with the thrust chamber body, injectors, and other hot-end components as the core powder-using parts; (2) Engine mass production will impose higher requirements on powder batch consistency, sphericity, and purity, and powder suppliers with aerospace-grade certification will benefit first; (3) Buyers are advised to watch for powder supply opportunities in Ningbo and the Yangtze River Delta commercial space assembly cluster.
