The Shandong Space Metal Technology Industrial Park (located in Rizhao High-tech Zone, covering a total area of 71 mu) is working through the National Day holiday to sprint toward the milestone of completing its main structure by the end of December 2026. The project is invested and built by Rizhao Yiming New Material Technology Co., Ltd., with Rizhao Transportation Energy Development Group and Anhui Xinfangzun Automation Technology Co., Ltd. as shareholders providing collaborative support. Currently, earthwork excavation, concrete cushion layers, and independent foundation construction for Plant 2#, 3#, and 4# have been completed; column and anchor installation for Plant 2# is finished. A cumulative total of 15,000 cubic meters of earthwork has been excavated, 290 tons of rebar installed, and 2,000 cubic meters of concrete poured. Phase I of the project involves an investment of 2 billion yuan and plans to build 52 ultra-large metal 3D printers and 100 standard-size metal 3D printers. Once completed, it will become a leading aluminum powder 3D printing industrialization base in East China and North China. Leveraging independently developed ultra-large selective laser melting (SLM) technology, the equipment achieves an effective printing area of 3600×1500×600mm, the largest build size in China, establishing a fully independent and controllable industrial chain from powder preparation and equipment R&D to software development, with core components localized. Even before completion, the project has secured hundreds of millions of yuan in intended orders. According to plan, the first batch of equipment will enter trial operation in 2027, with full production by the end of 2028, filling Shandong's industrial gap in large-scale metal laser 3D printing. The products enable integrated mold-free forming of complex components, targeting high-end manufacturing sectors such as aerospace, nuclear power, high-end equipment, and new energy vehicles. Value for powder buyers: 1) Once the 52+100 metal 3D printing units are operational, they will drive large-scale procurement demand for aluminum-based powders; aluminum powder suppliers in East China and North China can engage early for sample submission and certification. 2) Ultra-large SLM places higher demands on powder sphericity and batch consistency, making it easier for companies with stable supply capacity for high-quality aluminum powder to enter the supply chain. 3) The project includes an in-house powder preparation segment, and its procurement structure for upstream raw materials is worth monitoring.
