In October 2026, Mimir completed its acquisition of Sandvik's Osprey metal powder business, which now operates as an independent advanced materials company with two production sites in Wales and Sweden. The business brings over 50 years of metallurgical expertise and more than 2,000 powder grades serving aerospace, defense, medical, energy, and advanced manufacturing applications. MonteCap co-invested with Mimir, and MonteCap founder Mats Gunnarsson has been appointed Chairman of Osprey. Mimir's business model focuses on acquiring and independently operating divisions of large corporate groups, with prior investments including Euroatlas and Everspring. Mimir Group Chairman Joakim Notö stated that Osprey will be given business focus, investment, and decision-making speed to help it enter its next phase. Mimir confirmed that both production sites will continue operating, customers will continue working with the existing teams, products will still be manufactured and delivered on the original qualified production lines under the same specifications, and existing contracts, orders, and technical contacts remain unchanged with no supply disruption. Value for powder buyers: 1) Following independence, Osprey continues its full range of gas-atomized metal powders and controlled-expansion alloys, with procurement channels for nickel-based, tool steel, magnetic alloy, and other grades remaining unchanged; 2) With new shareholder capital, R&D and capacity investment are expected to accelerate, enhancing medium- to long-term supply stability; 3) Monitor delivery cadence and certification continuity risks during the management transition period.
