Shanghai Zhuji Xinchuang Technology and Professor He Bo's team at Shanghai University of Engineering Science reached an industry-academia-research cooperation agreement on September 17 to jointly tackle support-free metal printing, SLM process package development for aerospace high-temperature alloys/titanium alloys/copper alloys, and microstructure and property control of metal components. The collaboration is planned to be established at the Tianchang Science and Technology Innovation Center of the Shanghai University of Engineering Science Science Park, setting up an SLM additive manufacturing R&D center and a pilot production base for commercial aerospace parts. Zhuji Technology's self-developed SLM equipment features an independently controllable core laser and has completed batch trial production of components such as rocket thrust chambers, turbopumps, and injectors, reducing the thrust chamber manufacturing cycle from 6 weeks to 8 days. If support-free printing is achieved, it will significantly reduce the difficulty of powder removal from complex internal channels and the consumption of support materials, making it a key step in cost reduction for powder bed processes.
