On September 2, 2026, the Panzhihua Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau published a public notice (Sept. 2–9) regarding its review of the environmental impact assessment for Sichuan Henghui New Materials' high-purity titanium (alloy) powder industrialization and downstream processing project. Located in Anning Industrial Park, Yanbian County, the project involves a total investment of RMB 50 million and will build five production lines—four for powder and one for downstream processing—equipped with hydrogenation-dehydrogenation furnaces, plasma spheroidization units, and laser 3D printing equipment. It is designed to produce 350 tonnes of titanium and titanium alloy powder and 10 tonnes of titanium and titanium alloy parts annually. This adds new powder production capacity in the Panxi region, a major titanium resource hub, with the hydrogenation-dehydrogenation plus plasma spheroidization route supplementing spherical titanium powder supply. Value for powder buyers: 1) A new source of spherical titanium powder in Southwest China—worth monitoring for the grades and particle size distributions available after commissioning; 2) The combined HDH and plasma spheroidization route typically offers lower costs than atomization processes, potentially enhancing price competitiveness; 3) The project includes its own downstream processing line, making the company a powder-and-printing integrated player that merits inclusion in supplier evaluations.
