UK-based additive manufacturing AI software company Aibuild has launched the Thermo-Mechanical Finite Element Simulator (FETS), which completes full-process simulation of metal additive manufacturing in minutes—10,000 times faster than conventional methods. The system covers six outputs: thermal distribution, thermo-mechanical simulation, deformation prediction, residual stress analysis, interlayer bonding quality, and crack prediction. Validated by the US National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), FETS achieved an average interlayer temperature prediction error of only 3.2% in simulations of WAAM-fabricated 17-4PH stainless steel thick-walled parts. Running on cloud-based GPU computing, FETS eliminates the need for expensive local hardware and is already deployed by industrial and aerospace manufacturers, shortening traditional forging lead times from 12–18 months to 2–4 weeks while reducing material waste by 70%.
