At the Beijing Satellite IoT Industry Development Conference, China's first Space Computing Industry Innovation Center was officially approved. Endorsed by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the center will be located in Beijing's Satellite Town, Haidian District, and co-founded by Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications along with leading industry enterprises. It will focus on six key areas: high-reliability, high-temperature-resistant native space computing chips; high-performance, ultra-interconnected space computing payloads; space computing satellite platforms; space large models; integrated space-ground communication, telemetry, and networking; and space computing as a service. Haidian District plans to have over 1,000 satellites in orbit and an industry scale exceeding 100 billion RMB by the 2026-2030 period. Large-scale deployment of commercial space will directly drive batch procurement demand for high-performance metal powders such as titanium alloys, superalloys, and copper alloys.
