Zhongke Fengyang (Fujian) is entering the traditional footwear and apparel supply chain with metal 3D printing: it can print one shoe mold in 32 hours (traditional processes require more than 15 days) and reduce tolerance from ±1 mm to ±0.05 mm. It has produced more than 15,000 shoe molds, with customers including Li-Ning, Xtep, 361°, Hong'erke, Nike, and Decathlon, and annual output value of more than RMB 65 million. By the end of the year, the number of machines at its new Jinjiang plant will increase to 100. Shoe molds are a high-volume niche application for mold steel and stainless steel powders in traditional manufacturing, reflecting the continued penetration of additive manufacturing from aerospace into consumer goods manufacturing.
