At 21:32 on September 23, the Long March 8A launch vehicle developed by the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation lifted off from the Hainan Commercial Spaceport and successfully placed the Satellite Internet Low-Earth-Orbit Group 26 satellites into their planned orbit. This was the Long March 8A's fifth flight this year and its second full-system verification after a complete performance upgrade, accumulating practical experience for subsequent high-density launches; it was also the 669th flight of the Long March series of launch vehicles. The Long March 8A is a two-stage-and-a-half liquid launch vehicle, whose second core stage uses a 3.35-meter-diameter hydrogen-oxygen module (YF-75DA engine). Some structural parts of this engine are manufactured using metal 3D printing (additive manufacturing) technology, achieving integrated, lightweight design: Falcontech undertook the 3D printing of some structures, and Laseradd provided metal 3D printing equipment for manufacturing various key components. The engine's 3D-printed parts directly consume metal powders such as superalloys, titanium alloys, and copper alloys, representing a high-end application of metal powders in the aerospace field. As the core launch vehicle for China's satellite internet constellation, the Long March 8A will subsequently carry out high-density launch missions, driving continuously growing demand for 3D-printed engine parts and steadily boosting upstream metal powder procurement. Value for powder buyers: 1) As satellite internet constellation deployment enters a high-density launch phase, demand certainty for aerospace-grade superalloy/titanium alloy/copper alloy powders strengthens, and supplier qualification certification is the primary threshold; 2) As additive manufacturing service providers and equipment makers such as Falcontech and Laseradd scale up with launch missions, their external powder procurement lists are worth tracking; 3) Pay attention to dynamics in aerospace institute powder tenders and qualified supplier directories to seize incremental opportunities during the constellation deployment period.
