On September 18, the Data Bureau of Hailing District, Taizhou City approved a corporate investment project filing (Taihai Shubei [2026] No. 843, project code 2609-321202-89-01-826455): the Additive Manufacturing R&D and Production Project for Sliding Bearing Materials. Additive manufacturing of sliding bearing materials points to copper-based/tin-based bearing alloy powders and additive repair processes, representing a new downstream application point for powder metallurgy. The bearing industry has traditionally relied on powder metallurgy sintering processes; the entry of additive manufacturing means the demand pattern in this field for spherical copper alloy powders and tin bronze powders is upgrading—extending from conventional press-and-sinter powders to spherical powders suitable for additive processes. Value for powder buyers: (1) Additive manufacturing of bearing materials opens up an incremental market for copper-based alloy powders in the industrial friction pair sector; (2) The project is still in the early filing stage, allowing early tracking of its equipment selection and powder grade requirements; (3) Once the additive repair process for bearings matures, it will drive after-sales service-oriented procurement of wear-resistant alloy powders.
