German machine tool giant DMG MORI has officially launched its second-generation LASERTEC 65 DED hybrid 5-axis machining center. The system integrates directed energy deposition (DED) additive manufacturing with subtractive processes such as milling, turning, and grinding, and enables 3D scanning measurement during machining. It features a new multi-nozzle system, achieving a 35% higher deposition rate and a 170% larger workspace compared to the previous generation, with positioning accuracy of 4 microns. Additionally, users can opt for a blue laser source to efficiently process highly reflective materials like copper, or achieve gradient transitions between hard/soft metals and magnetic/non-magnetic materials within a single workpiece. The machine provides a powerful 'one-setup, all-done' solution for complex metal parts.
