Reported on October 27, Chromaloy's metal 3D printing base has signed to locate in the Changsha Economic Development Zone, with production planned to begin in Q1 2027. The project will establish an industrial-grade metal 3D printing equipment production line, forming a product tier alongside the company's already launched desktop machine GLB-M1; the Changsha Economic Development Zone is home to engineering machinery and automotive industry clusters, with clear demand for localized supporting supply. Chromaloy also announced that the GLB-M1 desktop metal machine will launch a global crowdfunding campaign at the end of November; hundreds of units of the first-generation machine have already shipped overseas, accelerating the pace of commercialization. Value for powder buyers: (1) the launch of equipment production capacity will drive bundled equipment-powder sales, giving early entrants into its official consumables certification system a first-mover advantage; (2) local engineering machinery and automotive customers in Hunan will gain new metal printing capacity, representing regional powder sales leads; (3) watch for whether a powder procurement tender or supplier solicitation is announced before production begins in 2027.
