The 2026 International Symposium on Additive Manufacturing and Intelligent Welding, together with the Forum on High-Efficiency Intelligent Welding and Remanufacturing Technologies, was recently held at Dalian Jiaotong University. The event was hosted by the China Welding Association and co-organized by Dalian Jiaotong University, the Additive Manufacturing and Surface Engineering Working Committee of the China Welding Association, and the Welding Branch of the Liaoning Provincial Society of Mechanical Engineering. Domestic and international experts and scholars, including Lu Bingheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Gao Fenglin, chief skilled expert at the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, attended and delivered keynote reports. The keynote reports addressed frontier topics such as research on the mechanisms of metal additive manufacturing and welding technology for 30CrMnSiA five-meter large-diameter engine frames. Sub-forums held in-depth discussions on intelligent welding processes, metal additive manufacturing, surface engineering, remanufacturing of high-end equipment, green and low-carbon manufacturing, and integrated applications of artificial intelligence. During the conference, guests visited laboratories on the South Campus to observe advanced welding and additive manufacturing equipment up close and exchange practical experience on topics including welding and remanufacturing technologies for rail transit equipment and the automation and intelligent upgrading of welding. Dalian Jiaotong University's materials discipline has a strong foundation in areas such as the fatigue and reliability of welded structures, welding processes for rail vehicles, and additive manufacturing. Leveraging the university's laboratory platforms to showcase welding and additive manufacturing equipment, the conference placed research on the mechanisms of metal additive manufacturing and the remanufacturing needs of rail transit equipment within the same discussion framework.
