Viking Mines (ASX: VKA) is advancing the restart of its Linka tungsten project in Nevada, USA. Guided by a fast-track-to-market strategy, the company is pursuing five parallel workstreams: drilling to confirm the geological model and grade continuity, metallurgical testing to determine beneficiation characteristics, processing capacity and engineering design, the shortest permitting path, and surface stockpiles and exploration targets to supplement ore sources. The goal is to evaluate Linka as a potential source of domestic US tungsten supply. For the metal powder industry: tungsten is a key upstream raw material for cemented carbides and tungsten powder (used in additive manufacturing and hot isostatic pressing). If the restart of a domestic US tungsten mine materializes, it will affect the global tungsten powder supply landscape and price expectations.
