Hunan Tianhai Intelligent Machine Co., Ltd. held a national premiere on October 28 for two self-developed metal 3D printers: the TH-115, aimed at precision scenarios such as dental, jewelry, and teaching/training, and the TH-350, positioned as a popularized industrial-grade model covering consumer electronics, aerospace, medical devices, and automotive precision components. Both machines are fully self-developed across whole-machine structural design, precision machining, assembly and commissioning, control software, and slicing software. Slicing software handles the path-planning function for layer-by-layer stacking in metal 3D printing and is the core software component of the equipment. Tianhai Intelligent keeps the entire chain of hardware, control software, and process data in its own hands, changing the previous assembly-style innovation path in which domestic equipment hardware could be built but core software and process data were controlled by others, enabling faster version iterations, lower costs, and more timely service response. At the same time as the launch event, the company signed industry-education integration agreements with five local institutions, most of them vocational and technical colleges, pointing to the training gap for on-site technical personnel in programming, parameter tuning, and routine maintenance. Metal 3D printing has long been constrained by the multi-million-yuan price threshold of imported equipment, with metal powders, process parameters, and post-processing maintenance dependent on foreign manufacturers, and applications basically limited to aerospace and large medical enterprises. Tianhai Intelligent is entering high-volume scenarios such as consumer electronics and automotive precision components—which demand extremely high consistency and yield—with a popularized industrial-grade positioning; the reliability of its equipment still needs to be verified through orders, while the talent cultivation at the institutions covered by the industry-education integration agreements will determine whether the equipment can truly be put to use once it enters the workshop.
