HP and Hyperion have signed a strategic preferred partner agreement to jointly advance the commercialization of tungsten carbide additive manufacturing. Hyperion is a globally leading company in hardmetals and superhard materials, formerly Sandvik Hard Materials and now held by institutions including KKR, headquartered in Ohio, USA, with a hardmetal R&D center in Barcelona, Spain. Under this collaboration, an HP Metal Jet S100 binder jetting printer will be installed at the Barcelona facility, combining Hyperion's tungsten carbide sintering and finishing expertise to establish a path from development to volume production. The partnership leverages Hyperion's newly launched CarbiForm tungsten carbide powder, which is specifically designed for binder jetting printing and has completed matching tests with HP Metal Jet printers and Hyperion's sintering process.
