According to a November 5 announcement on the Hunan Institute of Science and Technology website, the iSLM420SN four-unit system jointly developed with Zhongrui Technology has officially entered production. On November 3, Party Secretary Zhang Guoyun and President Deng Guojun visited Hunan Zhongrui Zhichuang Additive Technology Co., Ltd. in the Chenglingji New Port Area of Yueyang for research and to witness the launch. The equipment is a four-laser selective laser melting (SLM) metal 3D printing system with density above 99%. It can process stainless steel, mold steel, titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, cobalt-chromium alloys, nickel alloys, copper and other materials, and is mainly used for batch manufacturing of complex metal parts in aerospace, automotive and 3C electronics. In 2019, the university and the company jointly established the Hunan Institute of Science and Technology–Zhongrui Technology Additive Manufacturing Joint Laboratory, the only 3D printing laboratory in Hunan located at a university. Its director is Zhou Hongzhi, a university professor and chairman of Zhongrui Technology, who studied under Academician Lu Bingheng. Hunan Zhongrui Zhichuang Additive Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in September 2021 in the Chenglingji New Port Area of Yueyang, with an investment of 280 million yuan to build a production base, and entered trial production in the second half of 2023. Its parent company, Zhongrui Technology, was established and began operating in 2013. Its metal SLM series covers the iSLM800, 600, 420 and 350 models. The equipment has been sold to more than 40 countries and regions, with more than 5,800 installations worldwide. Its users include Huawei, CRRC, AVIC and multiple universities. The domestic four-laser SLM equipment has moved from the joint laboratory to large-scale production lines, further strengthening the domestic supply capacity for multi-laser batch manufacturing equipment. The university-industry collaboration loop covering research, production and application has taken root in Yueyang. Four-laser SLM directly targets batch manufacturing scenarios in aerospace, automotive and 3C. The multi-laser configuration helps dilute per-part costs. When selecting equipment for batch production, buyers can compare domestic four-laser models with imported equipment in terms of build envelope, number of lasers and powder compatibility.
