The Changde advanced titanium alloy industrialization project for high-end equipment, contracted by China Construction Fifth Engineering Division General Contracting Company, has officially begun production. With a total investment of approximately RMB 1.2 billion and total floor area of 46,000 square meters, the project will build a production line for advanced titanium and titanium alloy processed materials for high-end equipment with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons, targeting high-end fields such as aviation, aerospace, naval vessels, and weaponry. The project adopts an internationally advanced digital twin system to achieve full-process automated production from titanium sponge raw material to formed materials, covering the complete industrial chain including large-space stereoscopic warehouse storage, intelligent mixing and batching, ultra-high-temperature consumable electrode furnace melting, and 25MN rapid forging press forging. A total of more than 7,800 embedded equipment foundation parts were installed, weighing over 570 tons in total, with the largest single embedded part weighing 3.5 tons; installation positioning deviation must not exceed 4 mm, and one-time high-standard handover was achieved through a full-process refined control system combining BIM models, dedicated personnel review, and cross-inspection. The start of production means China's high-end titanium alloy material capacity has gained another strong force, which will effectively ease the tight supply of high-end titanium materials, provide material support for major national equipment such as aeroengines, deep-sea submersibles, and advanced naval vessels, and at the same time provide strong support for Hunan to build a national important advanced manufacturing highland, exerting a positive impact on the upstream high-end titanium material supply pattern of the metal additive manufacturing industry chain. Value for powder buyers: (1) After the release of 5,000-ton-level high-end titanium alloy processed material capacity, the supply of upstream raw materials such as titanium alloy bars and forgings will be more abundant, helping reduce raw material procurement costs and delivery risk for titanium alloy powder preparation; (2) The project covers the full process from melting to forging and adopts digital twin control, improving raw material batch consistency and traceability; buyers can prioritize attention to the quality stability of its titanium sponge and intermediate billets; (3) Buyers are advised to connect with the titanium material supply chain of this base in advance and secure raw material channels for aviation-grade grades such as TC4, so as to establish long-term supply assurance for stable production of titanium alloy powder for metal 3D printing.
