Qujing Qiyun Technology Co., Ltd. published a commissioning notice on November 5 for its Advanced Powder Metallurgy New Materials Construction Project (phased construction), with the commissioning period running from November 5 to December 4. The project is located in the Qujing Economic Development Zone and leases a 2,600 sq m plant. The original plan called for 6 production lines with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons of MIM stainless steel powder, low apparent density stainless steel powder, and soft magnetic powder. Due to market and funding constraints, only 2 lines with an annual capacity of 3,500 tons have actually been built, and only these 2 completed lines are being commissioned this time. Qujing Qiyun Technology Co., Ltd. was established in March 2026 with a total investment of about 20 million yuan, and the project officially launched in July 2026. It is positioned to fill the upstream powder manufacturing gap in the Qujing Economic Development Zone's electronic information industry. The production lines use medium-frequency furnace melting plus atomization powder production, equipped with 6 medium-frequency furnaces (one 500 kg and five 250 kg), 12 screening machines, 1 air classifier, and 3 blending machines. The products target MIM (metal injection molding) applications such as consumer electronics, medical devices, and automotive parts. A 10,000-ton-scale plan is considered large among independent powder production projects in China. The MIM stainless steel powder directly targets raw material demand from MIM industrial clusters in South and East China. The phased construction model also offers a light-asset validation path for similar projects. MIM parts manufacturers in South and East China will gain a new nearby source of stainless steel powder. It should be noted that this product is positioned for the MIM and press-and-sinter markets, and its specification system differs from that of spherical powders for additive manufacturing, so procurement should distinguish selections according to application.
