The project "Key Technologies and Applications for High-Value Utilization and Melt-Forging of Low-Grade Titanium Ore," led by Xinjiang Xiangrun, passed an evaluation of scientific and technological achievements by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and reached the international advanced level overall. Among its outcomes, the technology for preparing aviation-grade titanium sponge from low-grade titanium ore and the technology for 2.0 GPa-grade ultra-high-strength titanium alloy wire reached the international leading level. After six years of research, the project established a full industry chain from low-grade titanium ore to high-end titanium materials, reducing energy consumption per furnace by more than 30% compared with the industry, and providing support for cost reduction and domestic supply at the raw material end for titanium alloy powders and high-end titanium materials.
