The Biomedical Materials and Components Center at Gwangju Technopark (Gwangju TP) announced on October 27 that it has been selected for the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Energy Technology Development Project (Nuclear Core Technology) and will carry out the 'Development of 3D Printing-Based Safety-Grade Metal Component Manufacturing Technology.' The project will be conducted jointly with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (lead institution) and 3D Controls, with a total of KRW 17 billion in R&D funding over six years starting in December 2026. This marks a continuation of South Korea's efforts in additive manufacturing for the nuclear power sector (previously, Daegeon Tech's 316L impeller has been in continuous operation at a nuclear power plant for 18 months).
