Jiangsu Mengda New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. has initiated the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for its "Annual 6,500-ton Metal Powder Project" located in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. The company is a high-tech enterprise specializing in new energy materials and metal powders. Its parent company's "Mengda" series metal powders are widely used in industries such as cemented carbide, powder metallurgy (PM/MIM), electronic components, diamond tools, and new energy. Recently, the company has filed several 3D printing-related patents, including "A Blending Device for Metal Powder 3D Printing" and "A Processing Device for Improving Sphericity of 3D Printing Metal Powders." The project will further expand domestic metal powder production capacity and strengthen the supply of upstream materials for additive manufacturing.

Fortastra and Hadrian Partner to Explore Additive Manufacturing in Satellite Programs
U.S. spacecraft manufacturer Fortastra and advanced manufacturing firm Hadrian have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the application of advanced manufacturing methods, including 3D printing, in spacecraft development programs. Fortastra designs and operates highly maneuverable spacecraft for in-orbit security. Hadrian will provide precision machining and additive manufacturing capabilities, while Fortastra contributes expertise in space hardware qualification. The two parties will jointly evaluate additive manufacturing processes such as metal and polymer 3D printing, directed energy deposition, and binder jetting, as well as subtractive methods including precision CNC machining, electrical discharge machining, and laser cutting. Hadrian will participate in design reviews, offering design for manufacturability assessments and manufacturing feasibility evaluations. The collaboration aims to reduce lead times, lower costs, and enhance performance for the U.S. Space Force and intelligence community. Earlier this year, Hadrian established a dedicated additive manufacturing division focused on scaled production for defense customers.

6K Additive Q2 Revenue Reaches $7.1 Million, Up 63% Year-on-Year, as Powder Business Continues to Scale
U.S. metal powder manufacturer 6K Additive reported net revenue of $7.1 million for the second quarter of 2026, up 63% year-on-year and 14% quarter-on-quarter. Revenue from the powder business reached $5.0 million, up 25% from $4.0 million in the prior quarter and a 63% increase from $3.1 million in the same period last year. Alloy business revenue was $2.1 million, compared to $1.3 million in the prior year. Repeat orders accounted for over 90% of total revenue. Backlog at quarter-end stood at $11.9 million, up 23% quarter-on-quarter, while new powder orders grew 28% sequentially. The company continues to expand capacity, planning capital investments of $11–12 million in 2026. 6K Additive produces high-performance metal powders from recycled scrap using its proprietary UniMelt® plasma technology. The revenue growth reflects structural demand for localized, sustainable metal powders in the defense and aerospace sectors.
