The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has officially unveiled Aires Tide—a proof-of-concept flight test platform developed through the integration of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and additive manufacturing. It is the first tangible outcome of Project Genesis, launched by a White House executive order in November 2025. The development involved three national laboratories—Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, and Sandia—along with the Kansas City National Security Campus. Reportedly, the development cost was about one-fifteenth that of traditional methods, and the timeline was roughly one-seventh—from concept design to multiple prototype builds and testing in approximately five months, from October 2025 to March 2026. In May 2026, the team successfully conducted two flight tests at the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah from an altitude of 32,000 feet. The project validated a rapid iterative closed loop of 'AI-driven design + supercomputing simulation + additive manufacturing,' exploring a new model for national security capability development.
