Suzhou Hengchi announced on November 5, 2026 its progress in stable multi-material forming with its SLM metal 3D printing equipment and disclosed a key breakthrough in 532 nm green-light pure copper printing. The company develops its own green-light laser metal 3D printing equipment, targeting the forming needs of mainstream industrial metal powders such as aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, 316L stainless steel, and mold steel, and providing integrated customized services from material selection to printing production. In the SLM process, a powder spreading system lays down micron-scale metal powder inside a sealed inert protective chamber, and a high-energy laser melts and builds up the material layer by layer along the slice paths of a 3D model, achieving material utilization of over 95%. Hengchi's green-light equipment uses a 532 nm short-wavelength green light source to improve pure copper's absorption of laser energy, resulting in less spatter and a uniform, controllable melt pool. Pure copper parts can reach a density of over 99.7%, and the formed parts have thermal and electrical conductivity close to wrought pure copper. The equipment can process difficult heat dissipation structures such as ultra-thin fins and complex internal flow channels. The metal powders compatible with Hengchi's SLM equipment include aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, 316L stainless steel, and mold steel, corresponding to applications such as lightweight automotive structural parts, aerospace structural parts and orthopedic implants, marine equipment and fluid valve bodies, and injection and die-casting molds with conformal cooling channels. The mechanical properties of the parts are comparable to forgings.
