GEFERTEC, a German provider of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology, has introduced the new arcTitan system, specifically developed for processing titanium alloys. The system combines a fully sealed inert gas environment with a plasma WAAM process, maintaining oxygen levels between 10-15 ppm in the build chamber for stable, repeatable process control. All related system components—from gas management and sensor technology to wire feeding and process parameter control—are tailored to the specific requirements of titanium alloys. The standard build size is 2000 × 700 × 1000 mm, with a maximum deposition rate of 3 kg/h, and customization is available based on customer needs. GEFERTEC states that the biggest challenge in titanium additive manufacturing is ensuring repeatable process conditions, and the arcTitan's build chamber, welding process, and auxiliary equipment are all designed specifically for this material. The system targets enterprises in the aerospace and energy sectors.
