On October 19, the National Bureau of Statistics released industrial data for the first three quarters: 3D printing equipment output rose 62.5% year on year, faster than the 39.5% growth for lithium-ion batteries and 29.1% for industrial robots. In early October, BLT announced a planned investment of about 1 billion yuan to build a high-end metal additive manufacturing industrial base in Taicang, Jiangsu; the announcement stated the goal is to increase market share in civilian applications. In mid-to-late October, Han's Laser, in an investor relations event, ranked consumer electronics ahead of aerospace, while Farsoon Technologies' more than 40 equipment models correspond to more than 40 materials. Civilian applications already have concrete data on cycle times and yields: in the first half of this year, BLT achieved scaled delivery in consumer electronics. The hinge of a certain foldable phone is made by metal 3D printing, with a wing plate wall as thin as 0.15 mm; a single batch produces 300 parts in 25 hours, with a yield above 98%. Han's Laser's red-light and green-light metal 3D printing equipment can print highly reflective materials such as pure copper and copper alloys; green light raises copper's absorption rate from about 5% to about 40%, making integrated forming of pure-copper microchannel cold plates feasible. Farsoon Technologies' half-year report disclosed that it has developed more than 40 equipment models, supported by more than 40 dedicated materials and processes. Equipment output statistics count units shipped in the year, but it is the installed base that drives ongoing demand for powder, build plates, recoater blades, filters, and process support. BLT's Taicang base is planned as a large-scale metal additive digital workshop and an automated equipment assembly plant, targeting complex parts and assemblies for high-end precision manufacturing; in Longwan, Wenzhou, metal 3D printing companies have already taken orders for liquid-cooling heat-dissipation components for computing-power servers, producing about 1,000 parts per month. Monthly salaries for additive process engineers are concentrated at 12,000 to 35,000 yuan, with responsibilities spanning five areas: DFAM review, orientation and support, parameters and simulation, powder and equipment status management, and post-processing and inspection.
